Summary of the project:
“EWA is not just a project, She is an ideal. She is every girl and every woman who loves her sport, who wants to feel safe in the changing rooms of her club, who wants to feel respected as a human and acknowledged as an athlete, who wants to feel supported by the team of sports professionals who work for her and with her. She is the female athlete who struggles every single day to break records, win games, have fun.”The ‘Empowering Women Athletes’ Project (acronym ‘EWA’) is a Collaborative Partnerships project in the field of ‘SPORT’ that is co-founded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ programme. It is developed by sports federations, research centres and universities, local public administrations, transnational non-profit associations and it aims to combat violence, abuse, harassment, and discrimination against women in sports.EWA brings together more than 100 direct participants, 290 attendees to the Multiplier and Dissemination activities and more than 90000 overal qualified audiences reached by Sports Federations and Associations (athletes, sports and health professionals, security and media professionals working in Sports) from 8 Programme Countries to address the issue of abuse and violence against women in sports.The project targets specifically female athletes at both professional and amateur level, sports clubs’ coaches, trainers, educators, executives, and masseurs, sports reporters and civil society involved in equal opportunities with the idea of empowerment of female athletes at all ages and education of sports executives, scientists, professionals and reporters to the issue.
